The City of Burlington covers an area of 186 square kilometres and has a population of close to 174,000 (2011 figure). To ensure residents and visitors receive the highest standard of policing services, Halton Regional Police Service operations are divided into distinct team areas with police officers assigned to each community.
Patrol responsibilities within 3 District Burlington are divided among four platoons or shifts. Each platoon is led by one Staff Sergeant who is also responsible for an assigned team area.
Halton Regional Police Service 3 District Burlington operations are also supported by Sergeants, the District's Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), civilian and volunteer staff.

Superintendent Al Albano

Superintendent Al Albano joined the Halton Regional Police Service in 1990. His policing career started as a uniform patrol constable in the City of Burlington. Since that time he has worked in a number of areas and held a number of roles which include being an investigator in the Regional Drug and Morality Bureau and the Homicide Unit, Milton uniform as a supervisor, Executive Officer to the Chief overseeing the Quality Assurance Bureau, the Diversity Unit and the Planning and Research Bureau, and most recently as the Commander of Regional Intelligence and Drugs.
Al began his role as Superintendent of Burlington in November of 2013 and is continuing to enhance community relations and working with community partners to ensure Burlington remains one of the safest cities in Canada to live in. Al is Chair for the Board of Directors of Thrive Counselling, a family counselling agency serving Halton Region since 1954.
Inspector Robert Gourley

Inspector Bob Gourley joined the Halton Regional Police Service in 2000 after moving to Canada from Northern Ireland. He started his career with Halton Police as a constable in the City of Burlington working primarily in the downtown core.
Since that time, Bob has worked in various units throughout the service including the Prisoner Escort Unit and Criminal Investigations Bureau and has held numerous positions including Uniform Staff Sergeant and Staff Sergeant for the Court Bureau in Milton which oversees all the courts throughout the region.
Bob was promoted to Inspector in 2016 and returned to Burlington where he is enjoying reconnecting with the community where he started his career. He is actively involved with various stakeholders and community representatives to ensure the Service stays abreast of any issues that may arise.
Bob is an avid soccer player, coach and supporter, following TFC and Northern Ireland for many years.
