The City of Burlington covers an area of 186 square kilometres and has a population of close to 174,000 (2011 figure). To ensure residents and visitors receive the highest standard of policing services, Halton Regional Police Service operations are divided into distinct team areas with police officers assigned to each community.
Patrol responsibilities within 3 District Burlington are divided among four platoons or shifts. Each platoon is led by one Staff Sergeant who is also responsible for an assigned team area.
Halton Regional Police Service 3 District Burlington operations are also supported by Sergeants, the District's Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), civilian and volunteer staff.

Superintendent Al Albano joined the Halton Regional Police Service in 1990. His policing career started as a uniform patrol constable in the City of Burlington. Since that time he has worked in a number of areas and held a number of roles which include being an investigator in the Regional Drug and Morality Bureau and the Homicide Unit, Milton uniform as a supervisor, Executive Officer to the Chief overseeing the Quality Assurance Bureau, the Diversity Unit and the Planning and Research Bureau, and most recently as the Commander of Regional Intelligence and Drugs.
Al began his role as Superintendent of Burlington in November of 2013 and is continuing to enhance community relations and working with community partners to ensure Burlington remains one of the safest cities in Canada to live in. Al is the Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for Access Counselling and Family Services.
