Our Media Relations Officers are the official spokespersons for the Halton Regional Police Service and act as the primary liaisons between the police service and the media.

Communications for emergency and major incidents

Whenever feasible, the Halton Regional Police Service will provide information to the public on emergencies and major incidents. Such information is released through direct notification to media agencies and postings to our website and Twitter account. If necessary, the information will include alert or warning messages and instructions.

The immediate release of information will be dependent on public, victim and officer safety concerns as well as investigative integrity.

Halton Police Board Approves 2024-2027 Strategic Plan

On March 28, 2024, the Halton Police Board approved the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan that will help guide the Halton Regional Police Service’s priorities over the next four years.

The Strategic Plan was developed in collaboration with the Halton Regional Police Service and has been driven by the Halton community. This plan is results-based and community focused. The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest and laid charges in relation to a sexual assault that occurred at Oakville Place mall.

On Monday, February 12, 2024, Paul Swanson (62) of Brampton was arrested. He has been charged with the following:

Committing an Indecent Act;
Sexual Assault (2 counts);
Sexual Interference (2 counts);
Failing to Comply with Probation.

HRPS Expands Lifesaving Naloxone Kit Distribution Program

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating an armed home invasion that took place in Milton.

On January 18, 2024, at approximately 11 pm, three armed suspects entered the garage of a home on Robert Street in downtown Milton. Two people who were working inside the garage at the time the suspects entered were forced into the home.
