When an individual is charged with an offence(s) that warrants they be fingerprinted, the prints are retained by the Halton Regional Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
In the event that the person charged and fingerprinted is found not guilty of the offence, they may apply to have their fingerprints and/or photographs destroyed. In order to qualify, the charges must be withdrawn, dismissed, discharged or stayed. The individual must not have a previous criminal record or any outstanding charges.
If you feel you qualify under the above noted criteria and wish to apply to have your fingerprints destroyed, you must download the application form, complete and forward to Halton Regional Police Service along with the $33.90 processing fee. Once your application and payment are received please note it could take up to one (1) year for the process to be complete.
