The Halton Regional Police Service Children's Safety Village, a mininiture town with buildings, paved roads, traffic signals, railroad crossing and sidewalks, is located on a 1.5 acre site adjacent to Police Headquarters. It opened in 1987 as a joint project of the HRPS and the Oakville Optimist Club.
Approximately 10,000 children visit the Children's Safety Village each year.
The Children's Safety Village offers free safety-based classes to Kindergarten, Grade 2 and Grade 3 classes within Halton Region. It is not open to members of the general public.
Start times do vary depending upon the safety program chosen. Start times for individual programs are listed on the booking site.
Transportation to and from the Children's Safety Village is the responsibility of the school. Some classes arrive by bus, other in the cars of parent volunteers.
